-Ryan, go round the back.
-OK.
Police!
Police!
Stay where you are!
Stop!
Stop!
Stop!
Don't even think about it!
Put the hammer down!
All right, Ryan!
OK.
Dex Turkington?
What on earth are you up to?
Dex Turkington, I'm arresting you on suspicion of burglary.
You don't have to say anything, but I must caution you if you don't mention when questioned something which you later rely on in court... [Brandi] You got him, then?
Oh, aye.
I'm Ryan Power.
Brandi, with an I. So, how did Dex get in?
He must have sneaked in the back door when I wasn't looking.
Came through here and he was attacking the safe with a hammer.
I told him to give over or I'd call the police.
He said, "Do what I want."
Apparently, what's in it is rightfully his.
Hmm!
Sorry.
That's when I called you.
So, have you ever seen Dex before then?
Once.
Twice, maybe.
I haven't really worked here long.
But I reckon he was here to see Sandra, the owner.
Who, by the way, has disappeared off the face of the earth.
She hasn't answered her phone since... yesterday afternoon.
-[Ryan] Haven't you heard?
-What?
Sandra's been arrested.
[Eve] OK.
Yeah, thank you.
Uh, Callum and Ryan are on a call-out to the Sheep and Lamb.
-Sandra Colgan's pub?
-[Marlene] Hm-hmm.
The morning after she's arrested?
-That cannot be a coincidence.
-My thoughts exactly.
I just spoke with the Serious Crime Team in Belfast.
Sandra's saying nothing.
So, we still don't know what else she's been up to?
No.
But we'll find out.
[Marlene] Yeah.
I, um... I found my friendship bracelet.
Takes me back, seeing you wearing that.
The Three Musketeers.
[chuckles] The Three Witches, more like.
I still miss her.
Shelley.
Me too.
Do you think there's any chance she's still alive?
Look, just because I miss her, doesn't mean I've changed my mind.
Shelley's dead.
End of.
So, Sandra had the local GP abducted?
-That's mad.
-Tell me about it.
Who's gonna run this place?
MC Hammer there claims he hasn't committed a crime.
He was only here to retrieve his own property.
Told you.
-What sort of property?
-He won't say.
He'll only say it's in the safe.
[Ryan] That's not very helpful.
Any idea where Sandra keeps the keys?
I'm just the hired eye-candy.
OK.
Well, if you do find them, give us a shout.
I don't even know if I work here anymore.
So what are you gonna do?
I guess I'm gonna have to find another job.
Nicole Devine-Dunwoody at the Commodore, she's looking for staff.
You know what they could do with behind the bar?
Some eye-candy.
[beeps] What is all this?
[Clint] A whole new digital package, Baz.
Movies, sports.
You name it, we've got it.
Everything but peace and quiet, eh?
My wonderful wife arranged the whole thing while I was out at the cash and carry.
Don't sound so surprised.
Honestly, Barry, he thinks I'm a total incompetent.
[Barry chuckles] Ah!
Thanks.
Yes, love?
I don't suppose you happened to see Callum or Jo on your travels this morning?
Well, I've seen Callum.
Getting a breakfast bap at McNulty's.
And how was he?
He was the same as he ever is.
And Jo?
Well, now, I won't have seen her, will I?
Seeing as she high-tailed it to Belfast last night to start her new job.
And you know this for a fact?
Well, Lois Dunlop spied her driving out of town.
-Why?
-Oh... No reason.
Could you be any more obvious?
-I need to know.
-Listen, if Jo's told Callum he might be the father of your baby, you'll know soon as he walks through that door.
The guy's face is an open book.
[Barry] Is everything all right, Nicole?
Tickety-boo, Barry.
Never been better.
[phone rings] Yes, Assumpta.
Uh, well, are you ready to go now?
No, no, OK, I'll... I'll be right with you.
Yep.
Are you driving Assumpta to the hospital again?
I most certainly am.
-Well, how is Aidan?
-Well, I haven't seen him.
But Assumpta says he's expected to make a full recovery.
Worse luck.
All we're getting from Dex is no comment.
Well, who is this lad?
What do we know about him?
Dex Turkington?
He's lived in Port Devine all his life.
Went to school with one of my brothers.
He hasn't got a criminal record.
Installs TVs and digiboxes for a living.
Oh, aye, he's just upgraded the sports and entertainment package at the Commodore.
Nicole arranged it as a surprise for Clint.
Unbelievable bargain, apparently.
You know what they say about things that are too good to be true.
[Assumpta] I brought someone to see you.
Well, well, well!
If it isn't ex-Police Inspector Pettigrew.
Ah, you're looking disappointingly well.
What can I say?
Somebody up there must be looking after me.
As far as I can see, it's Assumpta here who's doing all the looking after.
She's gone way beyond the call.
Why wouldn't she?
Haven't you told him yet, darling?
We're in love.
Hello, love.
How can I help you?
I was hoping I can help you.
Oh, uh, uh, yes?
Clint, uh, Ryan and Callum are here!
-Hello again.
-I took your advice.
-What advice was that?
-[Brandi] Well, I need a job.
Bar work.
Ryan here said you were looking for someone.
Brandi's the top barmaid at the Sheep and Lamb.
Ah, and now Sandra Colgan's been arrested.
So, I really need a job.
How can I help yous, officers?
Do you know a Dex Turkington?
Dex?
Yes, he's just installed our digibox.
Yeah, Marlene says he gave you a really good deal.
Well, we got a substantial discount for paying cash.
Sorry?
You paid for streaming services with cash?
You never told me that!
Is that not normal?
Sounds like you got an illegal box.
Well, Dex said it was a special offer!
Does this make me a criminal?
As if.
You're the victim here.
Right, we're gonna have to take your digibox as evidence.
[Clint sighs] Ryan.
Can you do the honours?
What about all the sports I promised the punters?
See, if I did this, you'd be raging!
So, did Jo get off to Belfast OK?
She did.
Yeah.
That's good.
That's good.
[Ryan] All done.
I'll drop a receipt in for this.
[Callum] Ryan, let's go.
-So, do you think Callum knows?
-I've no idea.
[Brandi] Knows about what?
Sorry.
That is clearly none of my business.
[chuckles] -Who are you?
-Brandi, with an I. Your lovely wife was about to give me a job.
-Was she indeed?
-Yes, please.
I really need the money.
I have these horrendous debts.
All right, you can do an evening's trial.
See you at six.
So, what did Saint Barry have to say?
"Aidan Hunter's the devil.
Run a mile."
Hm, something like that.
[chuckles] Thank goodness you're a woman who knows her own mind.
It's one of the things I've always loved about you.
[chuckles] [message alert] "Get well soon."
What did they think was wrong with me?
Man flu?
I was in a coma.
[chuckles] What's wrong?
Urgent business sort of thing.
Nothing I can't sort out.
Just not from this hospital bed.
What on earth are you doing?
I'm getting out of here.
Can you help me find my clothes?
Where do you get the digiboxes from, Dex?
Fella I know up in Belfast.
Can't remember his name.
So, tell us how it works.
The customers pay cash for the box and a monthly charge for the content.
Also in cash?
-That's right.
-[Marlene] Hm-hmm.
And what do you pay for the content?
I mean, presumably you're stealing it?
Wow!
You must be raking it in.
Now that we know what you've been up to... why don't you do yourself a favour and tell us what you were trying to take out of the safe at the Sheep and Lamb?
What's Sandra Colgan saying?
We're asking the questions, Dex.
[chuckles] Right.
So, she's not saying anything.
In that case, neither am I.
[car lock beeps] We found this in Dex's flat.
It's full of invoices.
Loads of them are addressed to Sandra Colgan in her capacity as landlady of the Sheep and Lamb pub.
You wouldn't believe the work he's been doing for her, according to these invoices.
TV services, electrical work, internet issues.
Gardening?
I didn't know that pub had a garden.
It doesn't.
The whole thing's a scam.
Eight hundred quid call-out for "internet issues".
-That is way over the odds.
-Yeah, it's a smokescreen.
To hide what she's been doing for him.
And what's that?
[man] Sounds to me like Sandra's been laundering cash.
Good morning, Inspector.
Detective Constable.
Luke Jackson.
I'm with Serious Crime in Belfast.
How are you?
Sergeant Marlene Pettigrew.
Uh, this is Constable Callum McCarthy.
And you've already met PC Power.
Serious Crime?
Does that mean you'll be working with Jo Lipton?
Yeah.
Looking forward to it.
I think she starts on Monday.
Yes, she does.
So, has your team been dealing with Sandra Colgan then?
We interviewed her last night and again this morning but she's not giving us much.
So, I thought I'd pop down here and have a dig around.
-You could have tipped us off.
-And spoil the surprise?
So, do you guys know each other then?
Something like that.
Um... Why don't we have a chat in my office?
Good to meet you all.
Did you guys see that?
When I was leading your man in, he said she wouldn't be pleased to see him.
She had a face like thunder.
Why are you really here?
I told you.
I'm following up the Sandra Colgan inquiry.
Not checking up on me?
You have a very low opinion of me.
-Hm-hmm.
-What do you reckon to the idea that she's been laundering money?
-It makes a lot of sense.
-And how do we confirm that?
We get someone to open the safe in Sandra's pub.
OK.
You mind if I take a look?
[sniffs] Be my guest.
PC Power will run you up there.
Oh, and, uh, who am I?
You know, to you, in case anyone asks.
A colleague.
I've only just started.
The last thing I need is everyone knowing my private business.
So, I'm your dirty little secret?
Why does that turn me on?
Because you are terminally immature.
Come here.
Oi!
What's eating you?
-It's that hellion Aidan Hunter.
-What about him?
He's declared his undying love for Assumpta.
Oh?
Oh!
Have you got a wee notion of her yourself, aye?
No, I don't.
But I'm worried about her.
I need to know what Hunter's up to.
He claims he is totally reformed.
On the straight and narrow.
Hunter owns a boat, houses, all sorts of cars.
Where's he getting the money for all that?
That's a good question.
But, until there is concrete evidence of him breaking the law, there's nothing I can do.
[Aidan] Hang on a minute.
I recognise that girl.
Pull over.
Excuse me, love.
Do you work behind the bar at the Sheep and Lamb?
Used to.
Till the landlady got arrested.
-Sandra got arrested?
-[Brandi] Yeah.
Whoa, whoa, this is lunacy.
You should be in hospital.
Look, I just have to sort this bit of business and then I'll take it easy, I promise.
What's your name, love?
Brandi, with an I. Do you know what Sandra was arrested for?
The police mentioned something about abduction.
Apparently, she paid two fellas to lift the local GP.
-You spoke to the police?
-Yeah, this morning.
After that fella tried to break into the safe in the pub.
Someone tried to break into the safe?
Yeah.
Dex, I think you call him.
Attacked it with a hammer.
Did he manage to get it open?
Nah.
He just made a few dents.
Listen, Brandi, how'd you like to earn yourself some money?
-How much money?
-I don't know.
How does 1,000 sound?
How are you and Eve getting on?
Work-wise, yeah, fine.
But?
She's got it in her head that Shelley could be alive.
Shelley?
Well, I mean, I suppose it's possible.
That poor girl's body was never found.
Yeah, but... she was a teenager.
You know, she walked off that night, she was never seen again.
I'm sorry, Barry, but Shelley's dead.
Well, why would Eve think different?
Do you remember the three of us making those friendship bracelets?
Will I ever forget?
[chuckles] Well, a few weeks ago, Eve got Shelley's bracelet in the post.
-From who?
-Shelley, supposedly.
Oh, come on, anybody could have sent it.
Right, I better get back to it.
Oh, um, are you still going out fishing?
A bit later on.
Why?
Just, you know, if you catch a couple of mackerel, I was gonna make us our tea.
I will hold you to that.
See you later.
See your man Dex hasn't made much of an impression on it.
This place hasn't had a lick of paint in years and yet that safe is new.
What does that tell you?
Well, that serving beer and crisps to a bunch of old farmers isn't the priority here.
Two keyholes suggest two keys.
Maybe the lovely Sandra has a partner in crime.
[Ryan] Hmm.
So, you and the new inspector, yous known each other long?
A few years, yeah.
What's your first impressions?
[laughs] I... I couldn't say.
Busting your *****, is she?
Put it this way, I'd hate to be Mr Dunlop.
[laughs] I hear you, lad.
Loud and clear.
-[door opens] -Shh, shh.
-Brandi?
-Ryan?
What are you doing back here?
A man offered me 1,000 if I gave him Sandra's key to the safe.
So... you know where Sandra keeps her safe key?
Who's he?
This is Detective Constable Luke Jackson.
Do you know where the key is?
My da says I should never tell the police anything.
Sandra hangs it on a hook in the stock cupboard.
Well, it turns.
This door's not budging.
Because you need both keys.
The man who promised you 1,000, describe him to me.
[clears her throat] -You OK, Cal?
-Never better.
Only, you keep checking your phone.
[sighs] Jo is ghosting me.
Why would Jo do that?
Before she left for Belfast, she told me she thinks Nicole's having my baby.
And she's convinced that if it is mine, I won't move to Belfast, I'll stay here, in Port Devine.
And, um, how do you feel about that?
Confused.
And you don't seem very surprised that your best friend's pregnant.
Nicole made me swear not to tell anyone.
So much for us being mates.
[Eve] Detective Constable Jackson just called.
He's trying to ID a suspect.
Uh, Caucasian male, sixties, beard, whispering voice, whatever that means.
Apparently, Ryan thinks it could be Aidan Hunter.
Yeah.
Whatever this is, you and me.
You mean the fact that I love you?
Do you have to keep saying that?
[phone rings] Brandi.
Good girl.
You stay where you are.
I'll get there as quick as I can.
Bye.
Where on earth are you off to now?
I told you.
One last piece of business.
Once this is sorted, you and I will be set for life.
I thought you were showing the golf this afternoon.
There's been a, um, technical hitch.
Oh?
Uh, these are some of my old journals from when I was in the force.
Do you know, I kept all the notes I made from every significant investigation?
So, what investigation is this?
Would you remember a young girl who suddenly went missing called Shelley?
[Nicole] How could I forget?
If it wasn't for Shelley going missing, Marlene and I never would have become friends.
[laughs] Hey, let me show you what I found when I was hoking these things out.
Oh!
How cute is that?
Clint!
Come and see this.
[gasps] This is when she was obsessed with the PE teacher.
Sure, she was always obsessed with Miss Matthews.
Thank goodness Marlene grew into her looks, hey?
[phone rings] [Barry sighs] [groans] What does that crazy woman want now?
Yes, Assumpta?
Uh-huh.
What, again?
No, no, listen, I'm going fishing this afternoon.
No, just stay where you are.
I'll pick you up in five minutes, all right?
OK, bye.
Assumpta needs an urgent lift.
Could I leave these with you?
And would you give them to Marlene or to Eve if they pop in here before I get back?
Of course, Barry.
I wish we could tell Barry about the baby.
We will.
And he'll be delighted for you.
And you, Daddy.
If I am the daddy.
Thanks, big man.
Do you have it?
Not out here.
No way, pal.
Well?
Where is it?
I need the cash you promised me.
The cash is in the safe.
Give me your key and you'll get your 1,000.
How do I know I can trust you?
You say that like you have a choice.
[Luke] Oh, I think she does.
[Aidan] Who the hell are you?
He's my boyfriend.
And if you mess with me, he'll make you sorry.
Lay a finger on me, and my driver will make you sorry.
At least we know where we all stand.
-Give me the key, then.
-[Luke] Nah.
You show us yours and we'll show you ours.
[sighs] Right.
Let's get the safe opened and you can have your cash.
Sounds like a plan.
After you.
Thank you.
[sighs] At last.
I want my money.
And you'll get it.
What's in the other envelopes?
What's in those is none of your business.
A grand in your hand, as promised.
Do you mind telling me what we're doing at this dive?
Well, I heard Aidan telling his driver to take him here.
That's not answering my question.
-Stay here.
-As if.
[Aidan] What are you two doing here?
I need to know what's going on.
Where's my driver?
Why don't you answer the lady's question?
I will, when we get back to yours.
You don't mind giving us a lift, do you, Barry?
Hey!
Hey!
We're not going anywhere until I know what you've been playing at in there.
Why don't you tell the lady the truth, Aidan?
Why don't you mind your own business?
Detective Constable Jackson.
This is very much my business.
You must be kidding me.
[Luke] Don't even think about it.
I knew you were lying!
So much for you going straight.
Assumpta, will you just take it easy?
The best thing I ever did in my whole life was grass you up!
[Barry] Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey.
Leave him.
It's OK.
That's enough, come on.
Hand over the notebook.
And the cash.
Aidan Hunter, I'm arresting you on suspicion of money laundering.
You do not have to say anything, but I must caution you if you do not mention when questioned something which you later rely on in court, it may harm your defence.
If you do say anything, it may be given in evidence.
Let's book him.
Put him in the car.
I don't suppose I get to keep the 1,000?
Sorry.
[Assumpta] I thought, for a moment... we might have had a future.
Come on.
Well, that's quite a result.
Major money-laundering op shut down on your second day in the job.
Indeed.
So, why don't you look a bit more happy about it?
Hmm?
Something to do with the input from CID?
[Eve] He's a law unto himself, that man.
[Marlene] Oh?
Have you and the Detective Constable crossed swords before?
Once or twice.
[Luke] What's in the book, Aidan?
I don't know exactly.
I don't.
It was Sandra's.
Every time she received any money or paid any out, she noted it down in that book.
I told her not to.
So, you two were working in partnership?
You know we were.
That's why we both had a key to the safe.
-Just charge me.
-Don't worry, we will.
Oh, do you need to see a doctor?
No.
Why?
Well, you are just out of the hospital.
I heard you fell off a cliff.
I didn't exactly fall.
Are you insinuating that Inspector O'Hare pushed you?
I have nothing to say about it.
The word is you threatened Inspector O'Hare's son.
Your own grandson.
I was trying to help my other son.
Oh, yes.
Declan.
Where is he now?
-You know where he is.
-That's right, we do.
He's in prison.
Tell you what, Mr Hunter.
We'll put in a good word for you.
See if they'll let you and Declan share a cell.
[Clint] Are you only getting out now?
Yeah, I got held up over something.
Ah, to do with that Assumpta, no doubt.
What is she thinking of, cosying up with Aidan Hunter?
Especially after what he did to Finn.
Assumpta has learned her lesson about Hunter the hard way.
So, when you see her now, you go easy.
All right, I hear you.
Aren't we blessed?
Hmm?
Living here.
[chuckles] Aye.
It's not too shabby, is it, Barry?
Hey, enjoy your fishing.
Aye, you know me.
Never happier but when on the open water.
Uh, Ryan?
Yes, Sarge?
When you were out with Detective Constable Jackson this afternoon, did you, uh, find out any more about his history with the inspector?
[he chuckles] Yeah.
Only that he thinks she's a total ****buster.
[they laugh] Yeah, that's interesting.
Why?
I am so dead!
[Callum] How come?
You're joking.
-[knocking at door] -Come in.
[clears throat] So, uh... when were you going to tell me?
That Luke is my husband?
I wasn't.
Not today, anyway.
So much for us working together.
It's not about you, Marlene.
It's... It's about me, my marriage.
That whole Aidan Hunter thing, that's what Luke does.
What do you mean?
He just sweeps in.
Sorts everything out.
Oh, grabs the glory?
Yeah, something like that.
I mean, don't get me wrong, I love Luke.
You couldn't ask for a man who's more affectionate or supportive.
But... this is my first inspector's gig.
I just wanted to make it on my own.
Yeah, I can understand that.
So, you were, uh, checking up on me?
Well, I was just trying to work out what might have triggered someone to send you Shelley's bracelet.
So, that photo of you and Luke, you were receiving a commendation.
Yeah, I was.
And got your picture in the paper.
Yeah, and the local TV news.
So, I think it's a possibility that someone saw this.
Someone who doesn't like you very much.
Look, none of this convinces me that Shelley is alive.
-[Eve] But?
-But... It does indicate that someone out there feels that Shelley's disappearance is unfinished business.
-[Ryan] So, you got the job?
-Trial shift.
Smart wee cookie like you.
You'll ace it.
I hope you're right.
Got credit card debts to pay off.
And how have you enjoyed your time in Port Devine?
It's been great.
It's not the first time I've been here.
And it certainly won't be the last.
I want a word with him.
[Clint] I'm a good judge of people.
There's no way Callum knows about the baby.
I just hope you're right.
So, you think it's funny, do you?
What?
[Callum] We know you two are married.
Which two?
Him and the inspector.
Look, I'm sorry, mate.
It was just a bit of fun.
So, you're not gonna tell her what I said?
Scout's honour.
I'll tell you what, I'll even buy you a pint.
Oh, all right then.
Us lads are gonna have to stick together, anyway.
How come?
I've been looking for a transfer for a while.
When I heard that Jo Lipton was moving up from Port Devine and joining our team, I thought, well, why not swap?
I mean, it'll be a challenge, but I might actually get to see the wife occasionally.
So, you're transferring to... to our police station?
-Taking Jo's place?
-[Luke] Yeah.
And how does your wife feel about that?
Well, that she doesn't yet know.
[splutters] Well, what happens when she finds out?
Well, put it this way.
It won't be your ***** she'll be busting, it'll be mine.
[laughs] So, you doing all this digging, does that mean you're on board?
You'll help me look for Shelley?
It means I'm intrigued.
And I'll help you look for whoever sent the bracelet, yes.
Is that Barry's boat?
[Marlene] He should have been back hours ago.
What's that eejit playing at?
Has he fallen asleep?
Sorry, Eve, I just need to... -[Luke] And it was so funny... -[they laugh] Look at the pair of them.
What's the joke?
[laughs] This man's hilarious.
[they chuckle] When's it due?
The baby?
So you do know.
Jo told me.
Mind you, Marlene's all genned up about it too.
Why should Nicole tell you if she's pregnant?
You're pregnant?
Because Callum might be the father.
Might be?
Jo thinks it's a total certainty.
Which is why she's cleared off to Belfast and won't answer my calls!
I need to know.
-Is it my baby?
-We're not sure.
Well, do a DNA test.
Find out one way or the other.
No, no way.
I've heard that those can be really dangerous.
We're just gonna have to wait until the baby's born.
So, how long have I got to wait?
Maybe, six, seven months.
So, why don't you go back to Belfast and patch things up with Jo, eh?
If the baby's yours, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.
Yeah, you'd love that, wouldn't you?
Get me out of the way.
-It's not like that, Callum.
-It's exactly like that.
So, until I know whether this baby's mine or not, I'm going nowhere.
[Marlene] This isn't good.
Something's wrong, Eve, I know there is.
Marlene, do you want me to check on him?
No, it's OK, I need to... I need to.
Barry?
Barry?
Can you hear me, Barry?
I think it was a heart attack.
I'm so sorry, love.
